<title>Unication G1 Voice Fire Pager VHF, UHF or Low Band</title>
      <link>http://www.scanmd.org/apps/public/news/newsView.cfm?News_ID=22</link>
<description>Firefighter fatalities in the U.S. 2008 reports that 43% causes of line-of-duty deaths were firefighters being caught, trapped or stuck by or in fire. We can&amp;apos;t help wondering isn&amp;apos;t there any way to minus this figure and to prevent the heroes from sacrificing?

Integrated 2 tone with , CTCSS / CDCSS, and 5/6 tone, Unication voice pager, G1, can receive voice messages from not only a dispatch center but also from a 2 way radio at the scene. This capability allows firefighters who are inside the fire ground to capture the further instructions from a scene commander who is outside and would have the most understanding about any changes and overall situation. With the new updates, the firefighters will be able to make the critical moves when the fire is out of control. In the meanwhile, alphanumeric pagers are helpless to this scenario.

G1 voice pager additionally comes forward offering emergent communication that enables the trapped firefighters to connect back-up units for timely help.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONDER&amp;apos;S REACTIONS TO AN INCIDENT?

Integrated with GSM module into G1 voice pager, which enables its alert recipients to send an acknowledgement confirming whether he or she can join the rescue incident or not. The design of this functionality facilitates a dispatch center to manage the numbers of the incident responders within very short time.

Similarly, when negative confirmations are receieved, a dispatch center can arrange further back-up mobilizations automatically accurately, and more important, &amp;quot;Timely&amp;quot;. The Message Acknowledgement supplements the one way communication shortcomings, advances dispatching efficiency, and retrenches the consumption of rescue resources.

VOICE OR TEXT? YOU&amp;apos;VE NOW HAVE BOTH IN 1 !

The all new G1 voice pager supports both legacy voice communications and alpha-numeric text messaging. Voice communications has no true replacement, so adding text messaging capabilities is a natural step to increase the pagers versatility and flexibility to better support your needs. Destination addresses, message source information and special instructions can be displayed along with listening to clear and precise voice instructions.

AFTER BEING ALERTED, WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR PAGER?

Your new G1 pager can be configured to operate on 64 different channels which can be preprogrammed to coincide with most any system configuration. In such case, your G1 pager was not preconfigured to match some emergent communications situation. However, with Unication&amp;apos;s PS &amp;amp; DRT service system, the dispatch center can reconfigure the G1 receiving channels using OTA (over the air) technology. As a result, your G1 pager can be dynamically regrouped by the dispatch center without physically reprogramming the pager.

<title>PA Voice Interface System (PAVIS) Firehouse Voice Pre-Alert System</title>
      <link>http://www.scanmd.org/apps/public/news/newsView.cfm?News_ID=21</link>
<description>The PA Voice Interface System (PAVIS), When connected to an Alert receiver such as an amplified Minitor charger, Swissphone Pro Charger, or a Veetonix alert reciever, Will play a pre-programmed audio file such as &amp;quot;Emergency Theme&amp;quot;, Federal Q Siren, Backdraft House Alarm, Ladder 49 House Alarm or any other audio you can come up with. This device is custom made to your specifications and can handle up to 4 trigger devices (i.e. Fire Pager, EMS Pager, Mutual Aid Pager, Door Bells, Telephone, Wake Up Call and More). The device itself has a built in 25 watt Audio amplifier so you can connect the provided PA Horn speaker directly to this system. If you need to add more speakers the PAVIS system also has an RCA Audio output for connecting to an existing PA system or Interfacing into a new audio system available through ScanMD (Contact us for Details). This system comes with a choice of (2) LED Beacons, (2) Wall Strobes, (2) Ceiling Strobes or LED Strip Lighting.

Most Companies that purchase this item have separate fire and ems dispatch tones and have one audio file play for fire and a different file for ems. It can be considered a Pre-Alert System in some areas as the voice or audio announcement is instantaneous as soon as the alert device is triggered, No more waiting through 40 seconds of tones to hear what your station is due for. Some users have had a custom &amp;quot;EMERGENCY&amp;quot; Button Made and placed it next to there front door so &amp;quot;walkups&amp;quot; with an emergency get priority attention from the crews inside the station. Once again this system is custom built to the requirements of the buyer. If you cant seem to configure this device properly with the options included here on the product page please give us a call at 240-431-1159 if we don&amp;apos;t answer please leave a message and we will normally return your call within 24 hours.

This model allows you to hook up to 10 bells or 10 Strobe lights to one circuit that can be programmed prior to shipping for any length of time 1 second to 62 minutes. (Example: Bells or lights flash for set time 1sec. to 62min.)

Model: SA2

Description: This box hooks to an Amplified Minitor Charger, or any other alert receiver with switched relay output. This model allows you to hook up to 10 bells, lights, Timers ext. to two different circuits that can be programmed independently of each other prior to shipping for any length of time 1 second to 62 minutes per circuit. (Example: all bells ring for 5 seconds, but all lights flash for 2 minutes)

Model: VPSA1

PA System Pre-Alert Interface

Description: This box is probably what a lot of departments have been looking for but couldn&amp;apos;t get their hands on it for less than an arm and a leg. This box can be hooked up to as many as 4 devices including but not limited to, amplified Minitor pager receivers, Alerting radios w/relays, Door Bells, Weather Radios, Ext. Once one of these devices triggers the VPSA1 it will play a pre-determined audio file for that alerting device (i.e. Pager, Radio, Door Bell, Weather Radio ext.) The voice files can be up to 30 seconds long or it can be a favorite audio clip from a movie or a siren noise of your choice, this system is completely customizable to your needs prior to shipping. Note that this device can be hooked into existing pager systems with an optional accessory or can run one 20 watt speaker directly from the VPSA1.

(Example: Pager 1 is set for Fire Calls, Pager 2 set for EMS Calls. When Pager one alerts the VPSA1 Plays the audio file for fire calls i.e. &amp;quot;Fire Units Respond!&amp;quot; or when pager 2 alerts it will play &amp;quot;EMS Units Respond!&amp;quot; Even if both pagers and all four alerting devices are triggered at the same time the VPSA1 will alert with voice or audio files in the order of being triggered. I recommend using audio files of less than 5sec with this device.)

<title>Working House Fire In Huntingtown, MD</title>
      <link>http://www.scanmd.org/apps/public/news/newsView.cfm?News_ID=1</link>
      <description>Official Press Release:

At 2356 hours on Saturday March 19, 2011, the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for the reported Chimney Fire at 3380 Soper Road in Huntingtown. While en-route, firefighters received information that the owner was trying to extinguish the fire and believed it had spread to the attic. Units alerted were: Chief 6A (Montgomery), Chief 6C (Morris), Safety 6 (McKenny), Lieutenant 6 (Buckler), Engine 62 (Smith), Engine 61 (Gaylor), Squad 6 (Wallace), Tanker 6 (Robison), Brush 6 (Montgomery Jr), Ambulance 68 (Jeffery, M) and Ambulance 69 (Bevard).

Chief 6C arrived to find smoke showing from the second floor eves of a 10,000 square foot mega-mansion. Engine 62 arrived, laying a supply line, advancing the 400&amp;apos; pre-connect and began pulling the ceiling, at which time; they found fire in the attic spreading rapidly. Within seconds, conditions deteriorated significantly resulting in zero visibility and intense heat. Command immediately ordered evacuation tones. Due to high winds off the river, water supply issues, distance from the fire house, and the size of the structure (10,000 square feet), fire spread rapidly. Immediately thereafter, the second floor flashed over resulting in nine firefighters being injured, five from Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and four from Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department. As a result of the unbearable heat, several firefighters took extreme measures such as jumping out of windows and running through walls to evacuate the structure. Chief 6A immediately ordered a Full Second Alarm with two Tankers. Later in the incident, additional units were Special Alarmed to the scene. On scene were several ambulances and medics providing care to the injured firefighters. Although units from Calvert, Charles, St. Mary&amp;apos;s, Anne Arundel, and Prince Georges were utilized, fire spread in such a rapid manner that the home is considered a total loss.

Two of the Huntingtown firefighters were seriously injured and transported by aviation to Washington Hospital Center. The other seven firefighters were transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Subsequently, six of those initially transported to Calvert Memorial, two from Huntingtown and four from Prince Frederick, were transported to Baltimore Shock Trauma and Washington MedStar for follow-up evaluation and treatment for smoke inhalation. All seven firefighters have since been released.

With regards to the two firefighters air lifted to Washington Hospital Center, one of the firefighters is in stable condition with second degree burns to hands, neck, and face. He is expected to be released in two to three days. The second firefighter, the more seriously injured of the two, suffered respiratory burns, in addition to second degree burns to his hands, neck, and face regions. He is conscious and fully alert, but remains in serious condition. It is unknown at this time when he is expected to be released from Washington Hospital Center.

The Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department appreciates all the Community, County, and State support that has been provided or offered.

Respectfully,
Fire Chief Jonathan Riffe
President Eugene Farrell
